One Year Later...............
A lot has happened since Druci and I found each other on the Internet a year ago and launched our project to try to find our SHS schoolmates.
Many phone calls were made and we became familiar with Internet search techniques, using the list that Merriem Hammer and Bill Johnston compiled from the reunion in 1982, to find about 40 schoolmates during the first 3 months. Let me tell you...we were ecstatic finding those first 40!! We pored over available yearbooks and we nagged and pleaded for any and all clues to help us locate anyone who attended Sevilla High School. Some of you found us through the Sevilla High web site that was created in February of this year. We have also had a lot of help from a lot of people and we appreciate everythng everyone has done to get the SHS group organized again. We now number more than 280...not bad after one short year, huh?
A dozen of us met in Dallas last May to become reacquainted and to discuss what, if anything, we should do about organizing a reunion. There was talk of possibly joining Madrid High at their August 1999 reunion in Arizona, but it was a unanimous decision not to do that and to look into options on our own.
And, so, Reunion '99 came to be! As you know, Sevilla High School is holding an all-class reunion June 25-27, 1999 in Kansas City, the Sister City of Sevilla. We made arrangements with the Wyndham Garden Hotel at Country Club Plaza, and plans were finalized within 6 weeks of that first gathering in Dallas! We have planned a poolside cocktail reception for Friday night, a dinner/dance on Saturday night and a farewell breakfast on Sunday. The rest of the weekend is gong to be free for everyone to mingle, reminisce, find old friends and make new ones. We hope everyone can attend and we look forward to personally meeting each of you.
Druci and I could never have imagined that our project would have grown to these proportions. We continue to marvel at the camaraderie of Sevilla High students, whether it be at the three mini-reunions we have had, in the bi-weeky chatroom meetings, or with email, cards, letters and phone calls. It is difficult to describe, but many of us have spoken about the friendships that have continued through the years and the friendships that have evolved during this past year. Maybe it was because we were a small American community in Sevilla with only each for companionship during those impressionable teen years; maybe it was the isolation from distractions teens experience stateside. In any case, we all agree that there is a bond that has endured and continues to endure. It is this bond that has made our project such a success!
Lot of phone calls, lots of internet searching, lots and lots of emails back and forth! It has been a great year, and Druci and I have enjoyed every minute. We wish for the next few months to be as productive and exciting as the past year. And it can be with your help. Take out your yearbooks, your old address books, photo albums..pick out a few names and try your hand at searching on the Internet. There are number sites that make finding people easier than in years past...Switchboard, Infospace, Infoseek, WhoWhere, to name a few. Give it a try!
We'll see you all in Kansas City!

Two Years Later...........
Another year has come and gone since the inception of Druci's and my project to find and reorganize the Sevilla High School group. It's truly amazing to both of us that our single contact over the Internet in November of 1997 resulted in more than 425 students and faculty members being located and a tremendously successful reunion being held in June 1999.
We've heard so many heartwarming stories and kind words from all of you, and we thank you very much for them. We also thank you for your enthusiasm, interest, and countless offers of help; most importantly, we thank you for being a part of this fabulous trip down Memory Lane!! We couldn't have done it without you, and surely Reunion '99 in Kansas City would not have been so wonderful for all of us if it weren't for all of you!!
The Kansas City reunion isn't the end; it's really just the beginning! We continue to look for those friends that remain elusive so the search is never over. We look forward to the next "big" reunion a few years down the road. In the meantime there are mini get-togethers throughout the year of which Druci and the SHS website will keep you notified.
Don't forget to stay in touch. Don't get lost again!!

Three (and a half) Years Later...
The fact that I'm four months late with my annual update letter just proves how fast time is flying by for all of us...ain't that the truth?!! I'm glad, however, that this update is late as it gives me the opportunity to tell you a little about Reunion 2002, which will be here before we know it.
Druci and I have made the final arrangements and sent in the deposit for our June 21-23, 2002 weekend reunion. It's being held at the Holiday Inn Select DFW Airport North (www.holidayinnselect.com) in Dallas...no excuses for not attending if you live in Texas!! Dallas is also a major hub for air travel so the rest of us should have no problem obtaining flights. At this time, our weekend looks like this --
Friday, June 21 - Texas bar-b-q with DJ playing country/western music
Saturday, June 22 - Dinner/dance with DJ playing oldies and not-so-oldies music
Sunday, June 23 - Farewell breakfast buffet
We'll be sending out full information later. For now, just mark your calendars for June 21-23, 2002!
As many of you know, Druci and I have been the Sevilla High School contacts for the past 3-1/2 years. Reunion 2002 marks another milestone we never thought we'd achieve when we got together in November 1997! But then again...we never thought we'd ever find 475 of you! It's been wonderful locating so many who went to SHS and who share our feelings about those years in Spain. It was definitely unique for each of us. I've said it before, but I have to say it again...there is an unusual camaraderie that we all share, whether we knew each other or not in Sevilla. The friendships have endured, and many new ones have evolved long after our graduations. How many stateside schools can make those claims?
We continue to find more and more who attended SHS...and we are just as thrilled with each newly located person as we were back in 1997. Again, June 2002 isn't as far away as it sounds, and we are still in need of your help in locating so many missing SHS folks. Please let us know if you find anyone or if you think of a clue (no matter how small) that we can in our endless search. Most importantly, please keep us informed of your email and mailing address changes...and anyone else you might know of. It is becoming difficult to keep track of so many people! Email is a wonderful tool to stay in touch, but it's only as good as your correct email address!!
Thanks so much!
